4 AI translation tools you won’t find on ChatGPT

  • LLMtranslate: A free desktop tool that requires a paid API key. Supports OpenAI-compatible models and Mistral, different file formats and custom prompts.
  • Bluente: Paid web tool that translates various formats using its own LLM. Charges USD 50 for 1,000 pages (approx 300,000 words), which is quite a markup compared to GPT 5.
  • Laratranslate: A “machine translation system that utilizes state-of-the-art AI.” Probably based on ModernMT, since they are both built by Translated.net. The 1 million chars package costs USD 9 per month and would cover the translation of the book in this example. Supports various file formats, TMs and glossaries, but no system prompts. Hence more suitable for technical translation.
