Solved: Wordfast does not save target file as (export) to DOCX

By admin-emal-292 Views-2 Comments

I translated a DOCX file in Wordfast Anywhere and loaded the TXML into Wordfast 6.0, becase WFA was too slow.
Now I can’t export the TXML back to DOCX. I made sure the source and the TXML had the same name (otherwise Wordfast does not export at all), but it didn’t help.

So here’s my fix:
– Save the DOCX as DOC in word.
– Create a new project in WF using the DOC.
– Fuzzy-translate the project using the TM from the DOCX project.
– Export the target DOC, reconvert to DOCX if necessary.

All you need to do in WF is reinsert some tags. Took me 30 minutes for 7000 words.

Thank you for taking the time to share–this was very helpful in a pinch! I was actually able to import and export as .docx without the extra step of conversion. Perhaps because it’s now been two years since you posted. ?
